High and Low, is it worth your coin?
Choosing your foundation is a daunting task, but thanks to brands being inclusive and social representation, finding your shade is now less stressful. The only Goliath we now face is knowing how much to spend on foundation and if it’s really your money’s worth. In a world of influencer's it’s exciting to find Intel whether if a brand is good or not, but since everyone is trying to secure the bag. It becomes difficult to find authentic reviews. So took on the task to find out from my ladies which brands have they tried. I asked them to answer whether they are high end or low end girl type of girl when it comes to foundation purchases. Here’s what they had to say…
Nkule 32, Theatre Nurse
Low end
Revlon colorstay foundation R325, 00*
“Very expensive for me. It has a cakey texture when it dries up. It forms cracks around wrinkles lines on the face especially around the mouth and eye area. On a very hot day it becomes runny and sticky. Only full coverage once you build the products up and doesn’t last 12hrs, it was not worth it’’
High end
Clinique perfectly real compact makeup R535, 00*
“It was worth it, I absolutely love it. It gives me the matte finish look and doesn’t cake.’’
Nothile, 24, Accounting student and Model
Low end
Clarins foundation R515, 00*
“The foundation was good, but made me very oily. It lasted for a while but when I wore it, it felt quite heavy on my face.”
High end
Lancome R560
“This is by far the best foundation I’ve ever used, worth every penny. The wear lasts throughout the day and sets perfectly as the day proceeds.”
Zilo, 22 Professional MUA
Low end
Kryolan dermacolour concelor foundation R480
“Not really low end but it’s the cheapest I’ve used. It lasts forever, I’ve had mine since last year November. It’s a bit tricky to apply as you have to remove the product from the container and warm it up on the back of your hand before applying it on your face”
High end
Estee Lauder double wear R590
“It wasn’t worth it. It was very easy to apply as it was liquid and it lasted for about 12hrs but the whole bottle didn’t last for more than 2 month. It’s very dehydrating to my skin”
Now that you have read what my ladies have to say, here’s my short guide with Ndo on how to make foundation shopping for you a little bit easier:
Need or want?
Identify how often you wear makeup. Is it daily or occasionally? This way you’ll be able to narrow down if you need to go high end or low end. You’ll also be able to know how long you expect the product to last you.
Skin type
Your skin type plays a huge role on your make up look. Identify if you have dry, combination or oily skin then choose a product to best suite your skin.
Be open minded
Just because the brand is very expensive does not mean it’s really worth your coins. Try most samples in store, leave and walk around the mall for a few minutes. See how each product looks and fees on your face then buy the one that you are most pleased with.
i hope this short post will help your beauty shopping experience become better.
with guidance
